Benefits of Hiring your own Flooring Inspector
When you’re faced with an unresolved
complaint that may getting worse, has not been remedied, or a
satisfactory resolution has not been proposed, hiring your own
flooring inspector may be the answer.
In the long run, you can save time and
money by seeking the expertise of a Certified Flooring Inspector.
A good Inspector, looking at your
situation objectively, will be able to identify and determine the
cause of your complaint and who the responsible party/parties are. Once
you have the findings of the Certified Flooring Inspector your claim
can be processed quickly and efficiently.
Flooring inspectors provide impartial,
third party findings to the party who commissions the inspection.
The role of the Inspector changes according to the party they are
hired by, but their findings are always based on the facts obtained
during the inspection and are impartial to all involved.
When hired by a Manufacturer or
Distributor, the Inspectors role is to determine if the flooring is
defective, or if the conditions in complaint are covered by
warranty. The Inspector is not required to locate the source of a
problem, or specify who is responsible; they are simply required to
report if the claim is or is not manufacturing related.
When hired by the Retailer, Consumer,
Installer, Builder (or other’s), the Inspectors Role changes; they
are typically hired to go beyond explaining if the claim is
manufacturing related or not. For instance, an inspector may be
hired to look at a buckled laminate floor, and the inspection
reveals improper installation and water damage. When reporting this
same inspection to the Manufacturer the report lists the facts and
test results
found upon inspection; and in conclusion the inspector will report “Buckling found
upon inspection, not manufacturing related”. When submitting the
same report to the Retailer, Installer or Consumer, the report may
state “Buckling found upon inspection due to lack of expansion
space; Installation related, high moisture readings indicate a
plumbing or appliance leak near the sink; locally caused”.
Customer Service:
Retailers,
building contractors and installers frequently hire inspectors to
expedite their customer claims and to gain a better understanding of
what caused the problem.
